Food at Torvehallerne, Copenhagen center

Opened in 2011, Torvehallerne is among Copenhagen’s secret gems and is considered as the largest indoor, covered, non-typical supermarket in central Copenhagen, right next to Botanical Gardens and Copenhagen lakes.

Open seven days a week, Torvehallerne has over 100,000 visitors every week. The market features over 60 stalls selling a huge variety of sweet and savory items, such as fresh produce and baked goods, vegan, meat, fish, and various exotic spices delicacies.

There is also a small side-area in the marketplace with tables and umbrellas where people can sit comfortably and eat on-site. Apart from food, there is also a beautiful flower market, which is particularly beaming at Christmas time. 

Food and nightclubs at the Meatpackers District (Kødbyen)

Copenhagen's vibrant Meatpacking District features chic restaurants, classy underground bars, takeaways and holds special events all year round.

Among such an event is the Kødbyens Food and Market, which takes place in the Meatpacking District every weekend from April to October. It features over 40 stalls, which serve various delicacies worldwide, and is a major tourist attraction for Copenhageners and tourists.

Especially on hot, sunny days, the marketplace is usually packed with people relaxing over a quick meal or refreshing drink. Overall, it’s one of the best places to connect with locals while relishing international specialties. 

Beers at Taphouse, Copenhagen Center

Featuring 61 taps of continuously changing draft beer, Taphouse offers the largest selection of beers in all of Europe. The company provides only the best quality beer and features Danish and foreign micro and craft brewers' selections.

The bar has a lively and buzzing atmosphere, and the staff is extremely helpful to those not familiar with beer, always willing to offer apt recommendations. The food offerings such as sides and sandwiches are also quite good. 

Drinks at Ruby, Gl. Strand

Ruby first opened its doors on 21st June 2007 and has since then garnered itself a dedicated name in the Danish cocktail industry. The bar has been nominated several times for various international credits due to its exclusive range of cocktails.

At Ruby, the staff follows the simple motto: forget everything apart from your friends and colleagues, enjoy our cocktails, and leave with nothing but happy thoughts.

Ruby’s cocktails are expertly prepared using best-quality brands. The service is pleasant and well-organized, while the interior is comfy and cozy. There’s also an outdoor sitting area for smokers.
Ruby is located near many tourist attractions as well, with some windows looking toward Christiansborg Palace. 

The Elephant Gate, Carlsberg Byen

Suppose you're looking for a place where elephants – used as a symbol of good luck in various cultures such as Hinduism and Buddhism – bring back memories of World War II. In that case, the answer is Carlsberg Byen, Copenhagen, Denmark. The latter is the most famous historic landmark of the city and was built from 1882 to 1901 as an entrance to the Carlsberg Brewhouse.

The gate stands on the backs of four stone elephants, and the tower which was previously used to hold water is topped with a magnificent dome.

The landmark also features a bust of Carl and Ottilia Jacobsen, owners of the Carlsberg Brewhouse at the time. 

Grundtvigs Church, Nordvest

The Grundtvig Church features historic architecture and is a truly tranquil place. Built using about 15 million yellow bricks, the ChurchChurch has two organs and a serene interior with cathedral-like calm.

Located in the Bispebjerg district in the north of Copenhagen, the ChurchChurch can be reached simply by taking a bus from the city center. The ChurchChurch is understandably closed for visitors during service, but otherwise, entry is free.

The ChurchChurch is surrounded by small, beautifully built homes, making for a peaceful walk and exquisite photography. You can purchase informative brochures and postcards for a small fee at the entrance, detailing aspects of the Church'sChurch's architecture and construction.

Shortly outside the residential compound is a cafe where you can grab a quick coffee and sit and relax before heading back to the city. 

The Church of Our Saviour, Christianshavn

Locate right beside the famous Freetown Christiania is another church, entitled ‘Church of Our Saviour'. Widely known for its crooked copper-clad wooden spire, the church is visited by over 60,000 visitors per year.

The spire, standing on an octagonal base, features round windows with gilded frames and semicircular arches, with four statues guarding its base. Stairs leading to the top of the ChurchChurch, which amount to 400 steps in total, twist in a counterclockwise looping structure around the tower and provide a breath-taking view of the city.

A plinth holding a sculpture of Jesus Christ and a gilded globe awaits keen climbers at the end of the long climb. 

Work & Coffee at Shabaz, Oesterbro

Shabaz is a small and comfy coffee shop ideal for visiting on a quick break from work or if you want to find a quiet and cozy place for catching up on some reading or pending tasks.

Known for its friendly faces and relaxed atmosphere, the in-house coffee trainers, provide efficient service and superior quality coffee with great food. All their food is prepared from scratch using only fresh produce. Moreover, they are known for baking their bread and cakes, with gluten and lactose-free options being especially popular.
